About your instructors

Benjamin Hulburt

Benjamin Hulburt has over twenty years of entrepreneurial experience. He has founded and grown two successful publicly traded companies into multi-billion dollar enterprises. Mr. Hulburt brings a unique set of skills to Alto Financial Group which include significant financial markets experience having led two initial public offerings on both the NYSE and the NASDAQ, numerous secondary public equity offerings, private debt offerings, public debt offerings and private equity fund raising efforts, as well as numerous mergers and acquisition transactions over his twenty-year career.

Mr. Hulburt began his professional career as an active duty commissioned officer in the United States Army, leaving the service holding the rank of Captain. He served as a Director of Rex Energy Corporation (NASDAQ) from March 2007 to October 2010, and as Chairman of the Board of Eclipse Resources Corporation (NYSE) from 2015 to 2019. Mr. Hulburt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Hulburt has passed his Series 65 exam, becoming an Investment Adviser Representative, and currently maintains insurance licenses in numerous jurisdictions throughout the U.S. He is also holds the Retirement Income Certified Professional® designation through The American College of Financial Services.

Shaun McCarty

Shaun McCarty is focused on education and helping families achieve their desired retirement lifestyles and create their legacies. Mr. McCarty is great at this role because he cares about their personal needs and goals. His clients repeatedly state how he broke down their retirement into simple, discernible ideas. He is dedicated and driven, overcoming any obstacle that has been put in his way to make sure that his clients are well served. Mr. McCarty comes from a restaurant management background, where pennies really do count. He learned budgeting by costing out menus for multiple restaurants as well as working on monthly profit and loss sheets. Mr. McCarty is a constant student of his craft and never stops pushing himself to learn the ever-changing industry of finance. 

Mr. McCarty reside in Maryland, where he lives with his wife Jennifer, an Occupational Therapist working in a special needs school, and their teenage daughter.

Gene Harris

Gene has over 35 years of sales, service, management & customer relations experience helping clients. He specializes in helping people and families create the legacy they want and have the lifestyle they long for in retirement. He prides himself in providing over the top customer service by reviewing and educating his clients on their current plans as well as options for them.

Mr. Harris is also involved in his community by being the HOA President for both the community and house associations along with being on the local private swim club board.

Mr. Harris resides in Montgomery County, Maryland, where he lives with his wife, Theresa, and his son Michael.

This workshop is most appropriate for individuals who have at least $250,000 in investable assets and are either within 5 years of retirement or already retired.
